Cornelis Cort b.1533 d. 1578
Cort was a well known artist who moved to Venice and lived in the house of Titian in 1565. Cort was able to engrave several pieces based by Titian's work. Cort, before his death, was thought to had engraved over 150 pieces.

This piece was commissioned by the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian. This piece of work took over 192 seperate wood blocks to finish. This piece is one of the largest built at 295 cm wide and 357 cm high. To this date only 171 of the 192 blocks are held by the Albertina, Vienna.
